The 1s welcomed Pembroke to the Park on Monday night for their Tillain Cup quarter final. We batted first and despite a good start from Nilesh and Rajath, the runs weren't flowing freely as the pitch was showing the effects of the recent 'soft' weather. Thankfully Ashish freed his arms late in the innings to finish on 33* but the lads still had a tough job on their hands to defend 101. Rajath and Mo took two early wickets each to make a good start but at the halfway point of the chase, Pembroke were still on course. However a brilliant spell from Mubby and a couple of run outs saw Pembroke all out for 90. Mubby's figures of 4-4 came off just 20 balls. We are at home to Leinster in the semi final.
The 2s made a good start to their Whelan Cup match against Mullingar in the Park with Prashant, Rehan and Adam taking early wickets. However, the momentum quickly swung towards the visitors, who lost just another two wickets on their way to setting a daunting target of 156. Despite a very brave effort, we finished our 20 overs just 11 runs short with Prashant scoring his first 50 for the club (Well done Prashant!) and other notable contributions from Sachin and Rehan.
