The weekend got off to an early start on Friday as our Development XI made their debut against Malahide in the Park in the new Development League. Although Malahide won the game it was a good experience for the team. Next up is a trip out to Skerries to take on The Hills next Friday.
Dundrum were the visitors to the Park on Saturday as the 1s were looking to halt a run of 3 losses in Division 4.We were put in first after losing the toss and didn't get off to good start with the loss of three early wickets. Mubby led a recovery of sorts with 36 but at the halfway point were were well behind par score. However, Prashant got himself in quickly and hit his second half century in just four days to speed up the rate. Although he departed for 68, Usman's 30* saw us post 241-9 off our 50 overs. Syed and Rajath both struck twice to put Dundrum four wickets down early but their middle order rallied and we were heading for a nervy finish before Rajath and Mubby took the last wickets to give us a 15 run victory.
The 2s took on Clondalkin at Tymon Park in the Intermediate Cup. Although we won the toss we struggled against Clondalkin's bowling attack. Rony's 31 was the only score of note as were were all out for 89 in the 37th over. Although we took wickets regularly (2 each for Rehan, Stu and Srini), it took Clondalkin just under 25 overs to chase down the target.
The 3s welcomed North Kildare to the Park on Sunday in the Junior Cup. We put up a respectable 172 with a 50 from Srini and 31 from Alan but visitors made short work of the chase, reaching the target for the loss of just three wickets.
